WCSO deputy killed in Hall County Georgia wreck
Georgia State Patrol confirmed driver of vehicle that hit the motorcycle of Darren Hester, resulting in his death and critical injury of his wife, will be charged.
A spokesman with the Georgia State Patrol confirmed that the driver of the other vehicle involved in a fatal motorcycle wreck Saturday will be charged. A lieutenant with the Walton County Sheriff's Office, Darren Hester, was killed in the crash and his wife, Jamie, is in a critical condition.
According to GSP public information officer Gordy Wright, the crash occurred at 6:10 p.m. Saturday 4 miles north of Gainesville on Highway 11 in Hall County.
"A vehicle attempting to make a left turn hit the motorcycle that was traveling south on GA 11," Wright said. "The motorcycle operator's wife was flown to Atlanta Medical Center with serious injuries. Charges are pending against the driver of the vehicle that hit the motorcycle and the follow-up investigation has been turned over to the Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) from Gainesville."
Chief Deputy Bruce Wright confirmed the death of Hester, saying that he was a lifelong Monroe residents and had been with the WCSO for more than 25 years. Family and friends have begun posting condolences on the Facebook page of Hester's wife, Jamie.
