A fatal train versus pedestrian collision occurred in North Hollywood on September 5th, 2011, at 7:15PM. 
PRESS RELEASE
On October 5, 2011, at approximately 7:15PM, a fatal traffic collision occurred between a train and a pedestrian. The Amtrak Train Number 798 was en route from San Luis Obispo to downtown Los Angeles at the time of the collision. The collision occurred over the 170 freeway train overpass between Sherman Way and Roscoe Boulevard. Some evidence fell over the bridge necessitating the response of the California Highway Patrol to temporarily close the northbound #4 and 5 lanes of the 170 freeway while the investigation was conducted.
The Amtrak Train had 50 passengers; no persons suffered injuries.
The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. It appears from the initial investigation that alcohol may have played a part in the death of the pedestrian.
The investigation is continuing and Valley Traffic Detectives are searching for additional witnesses that may have observed the collision.
