Hamilton County Deputy killed in crash
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Police are on the scene of a motorcycle crash that killed a Hamilton County Deputy in Indianapolis on Sunday afternoon.
Deputy Leanea Nyeayea, 37, of Hamilton County was riding his personal motorcycle and was off-duty at the time of the crash that occurred near Kessler Boulevard East Drive and Binford Boulevard.
According to police, the deputy was traveling southbound on Binford Boulevard when a car turned in front of him. The deputy was unable to stop in time and hit the vehicle.
The deputy was thrown from his bike and was pronounced deceased by Indianapolis EMS.
According to police, alcohol does not seem to have played a factor in the crash.
Deputy Nyeayea has been a deputy with the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department for the past five years. He leaves behind a wife, five children, and an unborn baby.
