Boil Water Advisory for the Borough of Catasauqua

A boil water advisory has been issued for the Borough of Catasauqua until further notice due to a large water leak in the borough. This advisory has been issued as a precaution to verify drinking water is safe.
Boiling water is the best method for making water safe to drink. Boiling water as recommended will kill bacterial, parasitic, and viral causes of diarrhea. Adding a pinch of salt to each quart will improve the taste.
Directions for Boiling Water:
* Boil water vigorously for 1 minute and allow it to cool to room temperature before drinking. (do not add ice).

Do not consume tap water that has not been disinfected, ice or drinks
made from tap water that has not been disinfected, or raw foods rinsed
with tap water that has not been disinfected.

* Safe alternative sources of potable water include bottled, treated or
distilled water.


* Sanitize dishes by washing in dishwashing machines that have a dry
cycle or a final rinse that exceeds 113E F for 20 minutes or 122E F for 5
minutes or 162E F for 1 minute. Hand-washed dishes should be rinsed
for one minute in a dilute bleach solution (1 tablespoon per gallon) and
allowed to air dry.


* It is okay to wash clothes.


* Provide pets with boiled water after it is cooled.

The following areas may be experiencing no water service or low water pressures:

Strawberry Hill, Whittier Place Apartments, Lenape Cir, 14th and Walnut St area.

Walnut St between St John St and 14th St are closed until further notice.
