On Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at 10:45 p.m., Parks Bureau Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department arrested a man for Attempted Burglary and Receiving Stolen Property at Frank Bonelli Regional Park.
A deputy on patrol noticed a hole cut into the fence at the Los Angeles County Parks and Recreations Maintenance Yard located at Bonelli Park. While investigating further, he located a bag and gloves on the ground by the fence. The buildings in the yard have been burglarized in the past.
While checking the area for suspects, deputies found a truck parked alongside the 57 freeway adjacent to the park’s maintenance yard. They observed several tools in the truck that appeared to be identical to the tools taken in a previous burglary at the yard.
Deputies detained Todd Foster, a male adult from Ontario, walking from the area of the maintenance yard. Foster stated his truck had run out of gas and he was merely looking around the yard for someone to help him. Forster also added that he was with a friend who was on parole, but the individual ran off when he saw the deputies because he did not want to talk to cops. When deputies checked the truck, they found that it was not low on gas. Foster said someone must have put gas in his truck. He also said the items in the truck were his.
Suspect Forster was booked at San Dimas Sheriff's Station and is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
