Detective Awarded for Helping Domestic Violence Victims

LAPD officer Angie Casarez is one of several persons who will receive awards at the City Hall rotunda today as part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Police Officer II Angie Casarez is assigned as a domestic violence crime investigator at the Central Detective Division for downtown Los Angeles. Casarez has been with LAPD for 7 years and assigned to detectives for two years.

"We're very proud of Angie and her work," said Detective Ysabel Villegas, who is Officer Casarez's boss. "Angie has a real connection with her victims. She goes beyond just the investigation and helps victims get past the cycle of violence to change their lives for the better."

The awards are given annually by the City of Los Angeles Domestic Violence Task Force and the LAPD.
