Canyon Gateway Enhancement project set to begin next week
AMARILLO – Beginning next Tuesday, November 8 (weather permitting), the Amarillo District of the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will begin the US 87 Gateway Enhancement project in Canyon.
Next Tuesday, the ramp from US 60 eastbound to US 87 southbound in Canyon will be closed for the duration of the project.
Work will be limited to the area along US 87 from Russell Long Boulevard to just north of the BNSF Railway bridge. Landscaping, a retaining wall, colored concrete pavers, sidewalks, and LED lighting are just some of the enhancements that will be included in the project, funded by the Federal Highway Administration’s Transportation Enhancement Program.
As the project progresses, motorists can expect periodic delays during scheduled lane closures that will provide a safety zone for workers.
