Advisory: Nationwide Emergency Alert System Test 
On November 9, 2011, the FCC and FEMA will conduct the first ever nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System. The EAS alerts are transmitted over radio, television and other media sources. The three minute test will occur at 2 PM Eastern Standard Time and will be broadcast on all networks. The test is designed to test the reliability and effectiveness of the system as a way to alert the public during a nationwide emergency.
