The Worth Police Department would like to present you with some helpful holiday reminders.

The Worth Police Department would like to present you with some helpful holiday reminders.

When shopping, never leave your purse or valuables unattended. Thieves watch for women who leave their purse in the baby area of shopping carts. When attention is not on the purse, thieves can easily take it.

Keep personal information personal. Don't give out important information over the phone when your called by a alleged bank or representative of a financial institution or collection agency. If the caller is authentically valid, they will understand your wanting to protect your information. If they harass you into yielding, get a phone number where you can reach them.

Be wary of strangers asking for money in parking lots. Don't open your doors to solicitors you don't know. Always feel free to notify the police if your unsure. We want to know who's asking for money or going door to door in our town. Dial 911 for all calls for police service, not just emergencies.

Finally, a reminder to lock your car doors and to leave valuables out of plain view while your car is parked. Never leave purses, laptops or GPS units in your car unattended. Park your cars in well lit areas and turn your outsides lights on at night.

Have a safe and joyful holiday season!
