Attempted Armed Robbery/Arrest
The Newton Police Department is reporting that on Monday December 26, 2011, at approximately 3:15 p.m., there was an Attempted-Armed Robbery of the Newtonville Sunoco gas station, which is located at 875 Washington Street, Newton.
According to the victim, a White female described as being 5 feet 6 inches tall, Black hair and wearing dark clothing, Black hat and sunglasses came into the gas station asking the attendant to make change for her.
When the victim went to make that change, the female suspect pulled out a large knife and demanded the money. The victim then shoved the suspect backwards, resulting in the suspect fleeing the station, heading Westbound on Washington Street. The suspect never obtained the money.
The victim then followed the suspect and observed her enter a Red SUV type vehicle. The victim was also able to obtain the registration plate of that vehicle.
Investigators were able to follow-up on that information and a BOLO (Be On the Lookout) was given out to area departments for one Chelsea Ingalls, 27-years-of-age, of 15 Village West Road Framingham, Mass.
At approximately 5:00 p.m. the Framingham Police Department observed Ingalls in their city and acting on our information placed her under arrest.
At this time the suspect faces one count of Armed Assault with Intent to Rob.
