South Los Angeles Sheriff's Station deputies and Los Angeles County Fire Department firefighters responded to a carport fire at the 10100 block of Buford Ave, Lennox, at 5:44AM Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Arson and Explosives investigators responded to the scene to assist deputies and firefighters in investigating the cause of the fire.

After the fire was extinguished by LACoFD firefighters, it was discovered that eight vehicles were destroyed, six vehicles were damaged and one large carport was destroyed. An adjacent apartment building was also damaged. Firefighters estimated the damage at more than $100,000.00

Sheriff's Arson and Explosives Detail investigators determined that the cause of the fire was arson.

"No evidence was found that links this arson fire to the ongoing carport and vehicle arson fires in the Hollywood, West Hollywood and North Hollywood areas,:" said Sgt. Joe Acevedo, Sheriff's Arson and Explosives Detail.
