THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NORTHERN INDIANA HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM EST /3 PM CST/ THIS AFTERNOON TO 7 PM EST /6 PM CST/ FRIDAY. THE WINTER STORM WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.
HAZARDOUS WEATHER...
* SNOW WILL DEVELOP THIS AFTERNOON AND BECOME HEAVY AT TIMES TONIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING.
* ACCUMULATIONS OF 8 TO 12 INCHES WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS OF 12 TO 15 INCHES ARE LIKELY BY FRIDAY EVENING.
* STRONG WESTERLY WINDS OF 20 TO 30 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS WILL CAUSE CONSIDERABLE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW.

* ROADS MAY BECOME IMPASSABLE...ESPECIALLY SECONDARY AND COUNTY ROADS DUE TO SNOWFALL AND DRIFTING SNOW.
* MOTORISTS MAY EXPERIENCE POOR VISIBILITY IN BLOWING SNOW... WITH POSSIBLE WHITEOUT CONDITIONS AT TIMES.
