HONOR TO KNOW YOU - LAPD Cent Dets wish LA DDA Joe Shidler well in his retirement today. #LADA #Cooley
Detectives in LAPD's Central police station honored Mr. Joseph Shidler with a luncheon today upon his retirement from the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office after 30+ years of service.
Over 30 people treated Joe to lunch in Little Tokyo to wish Joe well, and show our appreciation for all his advice and support over the years as the filing deputy for the District Attorney's office in downtown.
Joe Shidler's impact on crime in skidrow cannot be understated. Joe shares some of the credit for the Safer Cities Initiative's success, which began back in September 2006. Since then, crime in Skidrow has dropped nearly 40% and a big part of the credit goes to his determination to file felony cases on the most egregious career criminals.
Joe Shidler is a modest, quiet, humble public servant who was equally fair, objective and understanding of the plight of the mentally ill, homeless, and the police officers who try to protect them.
Joe is an avid reader, so Detectives gave him a color KINDLE and we hope he'll enjoy it on a cool beach some where soon.
Congratulations Joe! May your retirement be filled with health and happiness; With love and laughter!
