WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 5 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO MIDNIGHT MST SATURDAY NIGHT
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN POCATELLO HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW ALONG WITH BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW - WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 5 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO MIDNIGHT MST SATURDAY NIGHT. THE WINTER STORM WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.
* TIMING - SNOW - HEAVY AT TIMES - WILL DEVELOP ACROSS THE EASTERN MOUNTAINS TONIGHT AND CONTINUE THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING.
* SNOW AMOUNTS - STORM TOTAL ACCUMULATIONS OF 12 TO 20 INCHES ABOVE 6000 FEET MSL AND UP TO 8 INCHES BELOW 6000 FEET MSL.
* IMPACTS - SLICK ROADS ALONG WITH BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW ARE LIKELY. ROAD CLOSURES ARE POSSIBLE. DANGEROUS CONDITIONS ARE ALSO LIKELY IN BACKCOUNTRY AREAS. STRONG WIND COULD CAUSE WIND LOADING AND AVALANCHES.
