RUNNER ASSAULTED

On Tuesday January 24, 2012 at approximately 5:15 a.m. a 30-year-old female reports being assaulted as she was running along the pathway of Commonwealth Avenue and Walnut Street.

According to the victim, a 6-foot-tall Black male described as wearing a Black jacket, baseball cap (star on it) and jeans lunged at her, as she was running. As a result of the suspect’s actions, the victim fell to the ground. The suspect then hovered on top of her and kept repeating "shhhh."

The victim was able to scream, which caused the suspect to run away in a westerly direction on Commonwealth Avenue. The victim then waived down an individual who called the Newton Police. Multiple units canvassed the area with negative results.

According to the victim, she remembered seeing a dark colored coupe drive by her three times. At this point in the investigation, it is unknown if this vehicle was involved with this incident.
