Advisory

Update to Residential Burglaries that occurred during the later part of 2011.

This information was passed on to me by our Commander of Patrol Services with regards to several residential burglaries that occurred during the 2011 year.

Begin forwarded message;

During recent extended interviews with a burglary suspect, he admitted he was responsible for approximately 100 burglaries throughout the St. Francois County, St. Louis County, St. Charles County, Jefferson County and Warren County area. While being driven around by detectives last week, the subject pointed out residences in Maryland Heights, St. Louis County, Des Peres, Town & Country, Olivette, O’Fallon, St. Charles County, and Warren County, that he had burglarized.

 The subject said he would pick out residential houses to burglarize by driving around the area and looking for residences with UPS packages on the front porch, mail in the mail box, trash cans out, or no vehicles in the driveway. If the garage door had exterior windows he would commonly look in the garages to see if vehicles were present.

 He preferred residences with front windows that didn’t have the shades drawn so he could look into the residence from the street.

 On several burglaries he would pick residences with adjacent public parking lots to park his vehicle.

 He would commit burglaries between the daytime hours of 11:00 am and 3:00 pm.

 Residential alarms didn’t discourage him; he said he knew he had about “two minutes” before the police would be notified.

 He preferred ranch houses, because he could get to the master bedroom faster to obtain the jewelry, but he did burglarize numerous two –story residences.

 He wore gloves and broke rear residence windows to gain access. Also, he’s been known to climb through doggy doors at the rear of the residence.

This suspect is now being held on Federal charges in relation to these burglaries.
