TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY...

.A BLIZZARD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR WEST CENTRAL MINNESOTA FOR TUESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH WEDNESDAY. THIS INCLUDES AREAS ALONG AND WEST OF A LINE FROM GRANITE FALLS TO STAPLES.
A WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE REST OF CENTRAL AND SOUTH CENTRAL MINNESOTA...INCLUDING THE TWIN CITIES METROPOLITAN AREA...AS WELL AS FOR ALL OF WEST CENTRAL WISCONSIN...FROM TUESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH WEDNESDAY.
AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE OVER THE SOUTHERN ROCKIES...IS FORECAST TO TREK NORTHEAST AND INTENSIFY OVER THE CENTRAL PLAINS BY TUESDAY
EVENING...THEN SLIDE EAST INTO SOUTHERN WISCONSIN BY WEDNESDAY EVENING.
SNOW IS EXPECTED TO SPREAD NORTHEAST INTO THE AREA DURING THE DAY ON TUESDAY...AND BECOME HEAVY AT TIMES TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY. SNOWFALL RATES OF ONE TO TWO INCHES PER HOUR ARE
POSSIBLE TUESDAY NIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY MORNING...PARTICULARLY ALONG AND NORTH OF A LINE FROM CANBY THROUGH THE NORTHERN TWIN CITIES
METRO AREA. SOME SLEET OR FREEZING RAIN COULD MIX WITH THE SNOW TUESDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING ACROSS SOUTH CENTRAL MINNESOTA ALONG
AND SOUTH OF A LINE FROM NEW ULM THROUGH THE SOUTHERN TWIN CITES METRO AREA TO RED WING.
STORM TOTAL SNOWFALL AMOUNTS OF 6 TO 12 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE IN THE WATCH AREA BY WEDNESDAY EVENING. LOCAL AMOUNTS IN EXCESS OF A FOOT ARE BECOMING MORE LIKELY ACROSS WEST CENTRAL AND CENTRAL
MINNESOTA...ESPECIALLY ALONG AND NORTH OF HIGHWAY 23. THIS COMBINED WITH STRONG WINDS COULD LEAD TO BLIZZARD CONDITIONS FOR WEST CENTRAL MINNESOTA.
REMEMBER...THIS STORM SYSTEM IS STILL A COUPLE OF DAYS AWAY...AND THE EXACT TRACK IT TAKES IS STILL IN QUESTION. IF THE STORM TRACKS FARTHER NORTH...THEN A GREATER AMOUNT OF SLEET AND/OR FREEZING
RAIN WILL BE POSSIBLE. SHOULD THE STORM TAKE A MORE SOUTHERN TRACK...THEN THE MOST SIGNIFICANT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS WOULD SHIFT
EAST AND SOUTH.
