WINTER STORM WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 AM MST THURSDAY FOR HEAVY SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW
* TIMING - SNOW ARRIVED WEDNESDAY MORNING IN THE UPPER SNAKE HIGHLANDS - THE CARIBOU HIGHLANDS - AND THE IDAHO PORTION OF THE WASATCH RANGE. SNOW ACCUMULATION RATES WILL INTENSIFY THIS AFTERNOON AND WEDNESDAY NIGHT. LIGHT SNOW SHOWERS WILL CONTINUE THURSDAY MORNING AND AFTERNOON.
* MAIN IMPACT - 5 TO 10 INCHES OF SNOW WILL BE WIDESPREAD BELOW 7500 FEET ELEVATION. 10 TO 16 INCHES OF SNOW ARE POSSIBLE ABOVE 7500 FEET IN THE IDAHO WASATCH AND THE TETON AND SNAKE RIVER RANGES OF MOUNTAINS. IN ADDITION - MODERATE TO STRONG WIND WILL CAUSE LOW VISIBILITIES WITH BLOWING AND HEAVY DRIFTING OF SNOW ALL OF THESE FACTORS WILL COMBINE TO MAKE TRAVEL IN THE HIGHLANDS OF EASTERN IDAHO VERY DIFFICULT WITH TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES HIGHLY LIKELY.
