Brevard County deputy shot and killed

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - A Brevard County deputy was shot and killed late this morning after pulling over a suspect vehicle.
It happened around 11:40 a.m. at the intersection of John Rodes Blvd. & Silver Heron Drive in Melbourne. (map below)
The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office says around 11:00 a.m. a report came in that someone was stealing furniture at a Melbourne Econo Lodge. A short time later the deputy spotted the suspect vehicle with two suspects inside and the vehicle fled, went into a ditch during a chase with police and deputies. Shots were fired and the deputy was hit in the face. She was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center where she died. Her name has not been released.
The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office says they have suspects in custody.
