On the morning of March 15, 2012, The Marengo Police Department responded to the 600 blk. of W. Prairie St. in Marengo, Il. Officers and Detectives took a report from the home owner that sometime during the evening hours person(s) unknown forcibly entered the residence through a back door and subsequently took a firearm, ammunition and a purse from the residence. The occupants of the residence were home during the burglary but did not hear or see anything, and were not harmed. Officers and detectives processed the crime scene for evidence and the criminal case is ongoing. The Marengo Police K-9 Team also responded to assist as needed.
