The oversized load we reported yesterday is currently (Tuesday at 3:15 PM) stationary on RT 57 south of Rittman. The load is expected to resume transport between 8:30 AM and 9:00AM on Wednesday. Once in motion, the load will continue south on RT 57 into Orrville and then continue east on RT 30.

PLEASE AVOID THIS AREA. This truck moves very slowly and you will become very frustrated if you find yourself behind it.

Oversize Load to Impact Traffic in Northern Ohio

COLUMBUS (Friday, April 6, 2012) – An oversize load, which is expected to impact traffic from Delta, Ohio in Fulton County across northern Ohio to Louisville, Ohio in Stark County, is scheduled to occur on Monday, April 9 through Wednesday, April 11 beginning at 8:30 a.m. through 8 p.m. daily.

Top speeds through towns and villages will not exceed 5 mph, so motorists are advised to use alternate routes.

The Route is as follows: Depart Delta on Seward Rd. U.S. 20A west; SR 2 west to SR 66 south; U.S. 6 west to U.S. 127 south; SR 613 east to SR 66 north; SR 613 east to SR 186 south; U.S. 224 east to SR 301 north; SR 162 east to SR 83 south; SR 604 east to SR 57 south; U.S. 30 east to SR 172 east; SR 43 north to SR 153 east. Arrive at Constitution Ave. north in Louisville.

The transport of the electrical transformer, which is being done for repairs, will take a total of three days to complete with planned stops at the following locations: The Sunoco truck stop on U.S. 224 in Seneca County and Zollinger Sand and Gravel at the junction of SR 57 and SR 604. Day three will be the destination.

While the transport company has performed multiple route surveys to verify that turns could be made along with checking for any overhead obstructions (electric, cable, and telephone wires) a private bucket truck will travel with the oversize load to ensure a minimal impact to traffic while providing the extra support for these low utility lines.

In addition to the bucket truck this load will be traveling with four Ohio State Highway Patrol escorts along with an ODOT escort.

ODOT is again asking motorists to plan ahead and use an alternate route all three days to avoid congestion and delays.

The transformer is 18 feet 6 inches wide, 15 feet 10 inches tall, 200 feet long and has a gross weight of 516,000 lbs.
