Port Neches Police chase and arrest burglary suspect near Gardendale and Greenwillow.
On 4-12-12 at approximately 2:00am Port Neches Police officers responded to a possible burglary in the 700 blk of Little Jeff. Officers were told that a suspect tried to enter the residence but was scared away by the homeowner. While on the scene, officers received another call of a possible burglary of a habitation in progress in the 3100 block of Gardendale. Officers were already in the vicinity and upon their arrival they observed two suspects in the backyard of a residence on Gardendale. The suspects observed the officers and ran through the backyard and jumped the fence. Officers took up foot pursuit and were able to apprehend one of the suspects. Officers were able to recover some stolen property from the first burglary. There may still be some property missing. If anyone in these neighborhoods finds any property that looks out of place, please contact Detective Jesse Fournet at 409-719-4241.
Also, the Port Neches Police wants to remind citizens to check their residences and businesses to ensure that the doors are secure and they have adequate outside lighting. Officers have reason to believe that these two random burglaries were targeted due to inadequate outside lighting. If you need assistance conducting a property assessment, please contact our licensed security inspector, Det. Jesse Fournet at 409-719-4241.
