This is Michigan Severe Weather Awareness Week
It's been a busy year already for severe weather in Michigan. On March 12th Midland County was hit by an EF1 tornado in the Coleman area...the earliest tornado on record in Michigan north of I-69. It did serious damage to trees, utility poles, and out-buildings. Last summer an EF0 tornado crossed over Sanford Lake. The point is even though we're not in Tornado Alley, severe storms and tornadoes do happen here and everyone needs to be prepared for them. Please take a few minutes and visit the Severe Weather Information page at www.co.midland.mi.us/emergency. There is also good information at www.ready.gov and www.weather.gov/dtx. Learn where to get warning information and how to protect yourself and your family from the hazards of severe weather.
