Between the hours of 9:47 pm (April 8, 2012) and 3:18 am (April 9, 2012) an unknown vehicle was traveling northbound on the entrance ramp from Luna Road onto President George Bush Turnpike. The entrance ramp has a curve and visibility during those hours was low due to heavy fog. A disabled white Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4 was on the right shoulder without its emergency flashers activated. The disabled Jeep’s spare tire was leaning up against the outside concrete barrier wall and the vehicle had a jack under the right front tire. For an unknown reason, the driver of the disabled Jeep was standing in the roadway and he was struck by an unknown suspect vehicle. The disabled Jeep was also struck by the suspect vehicle. The suspect vehicle fled the scene without stopping to render aid and proceeded northbound (NB) on President George Bush Turnpike. The driver of the disabled Jeep died from his injuries.
