WINHALL POLICE & RESCUE PRESS RELEASE

On April 29, 2012 at approximately 12:50 pm the Winhall Police Department was called to 35 Beaver Street in Winhall for a missing juvenile. Conor Marcellus, 12 years old walked away from his parents’ residence on Beaver Street. Conor usually goes for walks in the woods surrounding the house but has not typically gone for longer than an hour. The Winhall Police Department along with the Vermont State Police operated under the incident command system. This was set up and utilized as the organizational structure in the search for Conor. ICS helped manage the vast resources that were utilized in the search. The Vermont State Game Wardens, U.S. Border Patrol, U.S. Forest Service, Winhall Fire Department and the South Londonderry Fire Department were utilized in the search.

The Vermont State Police Search and Rescue Team along with the New England K-9 Search and Rescue Team were also called in to assist. Approximately 5 hours in to the search a Vermont Fish and Wildlife K-9 located Conor approximately 1.5 miles in the woods from Conor’s residence. A U.S. Border Patrol helicopter was on scene and assisted with the search.
