We recently had a resident defrauded over the phone with an announcement that he had won a large amount of money but needed to send them money to guarantee the payoff.
DON'T BE A VICTIM!
These people prey on the elderly and needy. If it sounds to good to be true....it is.
-No legitimate company dispensing a prize would ask for money from the winner, let alone do the transaction over the telephone.
-Never give out any bank account information over the phone, even if they tell you they're police or government agents doing an investigation. These type of things are done in person with proper identification. If you have questions call the police or your bank.
-Never give your social security number to strangers
-Always be suspicious, remember there is no such thing as a free lunch.
