Camillus Police will be participating in Buckle up New York Campaign. Starting May 24, and running through June 2. Camillus Police Officers will be targeting child restraint and occupant restraint violations during the spring Buckle up New York campaign.

The Camillus Police Department will be conducting occupant restraint checkpoints and dispatching dedicated patrols throughout the Town of Camillus, and will also working with the New York State Police conducting night time occupant restraint checkpoints ay various locations within the Town of Camillus.

Increasing seat belt and child safety seat use is the most effective way to reduce crash-related injuries and fatalities. Buckle Up New York, Click It... Or Ticket, is a statewide, zero-tolerance enforcement effort coordinated by the State Police, local agencies, sheriff's offices and the Governor's Traffic Safety Committee to increase safety restraint use in New York State.

Who must wear safety restraints?

All front seat occupants regardless of age. The driver is responsible for all front seat passengers under age 16.
All rear seat passengers under age 16.
All children under 4 years old must be restrained in a federally approved child safety seat.
Children ages 4, 5, 6 and 7 must be properly restrained in an appropriate child restraint system, one that meets the child's height and weight recommendations according to the child restraint manufacturer.
