Record the serial #, make and model, of your bike and put in your cell phone
Take pics of your bike
Etch your frame with an ID# like your Cal driver's license #
Learn how to lock your bike
Lock your bike even at home in your garage or on your balcony
Use high quality locks like a U-lock
If your bike is stolen, look for it on Craigslist, but call detectives if you find it. We'll "buy it back" for you. : ) But this is where etching your bike is so important in the first place; it helps prove ownership.
Do not leave your bike unattended or unlocked even for "just a minute." Thieves can steal a bike in seconds!
Thieves have stolen 55 bicycles from #DTLA so far this year. They stole over 150 bikes last year. Half of these bikes were left unlocked.
