The Sheriff's Office wants to alert you to an increase in home burglaries in your area...
The Johnson County Sheriff's Office wants to alert homeowners of an increase in residential burglaries in a centralized area of White River Township. In the last six weeks, Sheriff's Detectives have been investigating an increase in burglaries in an area bordered by County Line Road, Peterman Road, Olive Branch Road, and Morgantown Road.
This three square mile area has been targeted several times by daytime residence burglars. Methods of entry have been to either enter through a window or forced entry to a door.
HOW CAN YOU HELP / WHAT SHOULD YOU DO??? Be vigilant and REPORT SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY IMMEDIATELY! Most burglars do not want to encounter a person inside their target home, so they usually knock on a door to see if anyone is home. If someone answers, they will make up a name and ask if that person lives there, or ask for directions somewhere. If you experience this type of activity, please call the Sheriff's Office immediately by calling either 317-736-5155 or 911. Do not delay! We can respond and determine if the individual is simply lost or if perhaps they had other intentions.
The Sheriff's Office will continue to step up patrols in this area but your assistance with reporting suspicious persons is definitely appreciated!
If you have information about who is committing these burglaries, please call our anonymous crime tip line at 317-736-2204 or e-mail [email protected]. Thank you for your support.
