EMS issues NOT addressed...

Make Your Voice Heard - Please E-Mail or Call Your Senator Now - Table S1650 Take Action!

As expected, the sponsors of A2095 and S818 in the last legislative session have reintroduced their bills and are trying to get them passed as quickly as possible. The new bill numbers are A2463 and S1650. The Assembly Health and Senior Services Committee approved A2463 on Thursday, June 7 and S1650 is up before the Senate Health, Human Services and Senior Citizens Committee this Monday, June 18. We are very disappointed to see these bills reintroduced without addressing the issues and concerns raised by Governor Christie in his conditional veto of A2095 back on January 9, 2012. The Governor's specific recommendation was "I recommend that the Commissioner of Health and Senior Services undertake a review of the State’s existing emergency medical services, and the changes proposed in this bill, and develop findings and recommendations on how New Jersey can more efficiently and effectively upgrade our EMS delivery system and report directly to me no later than six months after the enactment of this bill. In particular, I recommend that the Commissioner examine the impact of, and make recommendations on, the changes proposed by this bill as they relate to the following areas: property taxes; volunteerism; background checks; disqualifying convictions; licensure versus certification; the fiscal impact to the State budget; technology upgrades; and opportunities for regionalization or shared services."
None of this was done.
Please contact your Senator now and ask that S1650 be tabled when it comes before the Senate Health, Human Services and Senior Citizens Committee.
