Last night LPD officers responded to a call of a subject armed with a gun threatening to shoot people. Officers located the suspect at 87th and Dover. He was armed with a knife. The suspect ignored all commands and charged at the officers while still armed with the knife. An attempt to stop the suspect using K-9 was unsuccessful and officers fired at the suspect. He was struck by the shots and went to the ground. He was transported to UMC where he later died as a result of his injuries. The suspect has been identified as Anthony Nichols, 32 years old. This investigation is ongoing.
