Fruitport Township Police Department is investigating a reported larceny of a utility trailer from a business in the area of the 3800 block of East Broadway. The trailer was custom built and has a unique design. Images of the stolen trailer are being released in an effort to obtain investigative leads. The trailer was stolen sometime between June 09, 2012, and June 12, 2012.
Fruitport Township Police Department is also investigating a reported stolen trailer that took place near the end of May. Additional information regarding that theft was previously released: https://local.nixle.com/alert/4836785/

Police have investigated a number of these types of offenses in the past. Owners of trailers are encouraged to take proactive steps to reduce the opportunity for someone to steal a trailer - such as:
* Use a hitch and / or wheel lock.
* Chain / lock the trailer to an immovable object.
Police also encourage the following in order to help police identify / recover stolen trailers:
* Have a photograph of your trailer.
* Clearly mark your trailer so it can be easily identified.
* Consider marking the trailer in both obvious and discreet locations.
* Have identifying information about your trailer readily available.
