Fruitport Township Police Department responded to three additional home invasion complaints on 06/21/2012 – all reported to police within 30 minutes of each other. Two of the incidents, both in the area of E. Pontaluna Road near Quarterline, were reported to have occurred during daytime hours on 06/21/2012. The third incident, in the 3400 block of Max Paulsen Drive, was reported to have occurred sometime during the past week.

This brings the total number of home invasion incidents reported in Fruitport Township to 11 since 05/29/2012.

Items stolen in these incidents include electronics, computer equipment, multiple firearms, cash, and other valuables.

No arrests have been made relating to these incidents. Investigators from Fruitport Township Police Department are working with investigators from other local jurisdictions to determine whether these incidents are linked to incidents in other jurisdictions as well as multiple other similar incidents within Fruitport Township (information previously released regarding prior incidents https://local.nixle.com/alert/4843216/).

Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant. Report any suspicious persons or vehicles believed to be "casing" the area. Note - burglars will sometimes knock on a door to determine if anyone is home before forcing entry into a home (if someone answers the door, the burglar may ask for a fictional friend, claim they are at the wrong house, they need gas, they need directions, they are selling something, or offer some other excuse for making contact at the residence).

Call police immediately if you suspect someone is casing the neighborhood - provide as much detailed descriptive information as possible about the suspect(s) and/or suspect vehicle(s).

Residents are also encouraged to consider use of traditional home security measures - lock your windows and doors, use deadbolt locks, invest in an alarm/surveillance system, or get a dog (we take very few home invasion complaints where the homeowner has a dog).

Police encourage residents to call police immediately if they discover their home has been burglarized. The offender(s) may still be inside the residence - which could cause a safety issue for a curious homeowner who enters the residence before the police arrive. Waiting for the police to arrive prior to entering the residence can also assist in preserving evidence vital to investigating the incident.
