Advisory

Sheriff Doug Cox is asking residents to keep a watchful eye and report suspicious activity due to WRT Burglary Incidents...

Johnson County Sheriff Doug Cox is asking White River Township residents to assist the Sheriff's Office by keeping a watchful eye over their property and their neighbors property after two more burglary incidents occurred in White River Township neighborhoods yesterday.

One burglary occurred on Messersmith Drive in the Windsong Subdivision while another burglary occurred on Queensgate Drive in the Foxberry Trace subdivision.

Both incidents occurred during daytime hours (morning or afternoon) while residents were away, and in both incidents the suspect(s) kicked in the front door of the home.

Residents should be especially suspicious of those who knock on your door claiming to be selling an item you have not asked for a solicitation for or asking if someone lives at your residence who is not a current resident (Ex: Does Joe Smith still live here? Oh, well, I must have the wrong house, etc.) Both of these scenarios should result in the homeowner calling the Sheriff's Office Dispatch Center IMMEDIATELY at 736-5155; homeowners should attempt to get a license plate number, vehicle description, and direction of travel of the suspicious person(s) if they have the opportunity.
