...INTENSE HEAT EXPECTED THURSDAY...

.A LARGE AREA OF MID LEVEL HIGH PRESSURE WILL BRING VERY HOT
TEMPERATURES TO ALL OF CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST ILLINOIS ON THURSDAY.
100-105 DEGREE HIGH TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LINCOLN HAS ISSUED A HEAT
ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 7 PM CDT THURSDAY.

* TEMPERATURE...FORECAST HIGH TEMPERATURES RANGE FROM 100 TO 105
DEGREES ACROSS CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST ILLINOIS THURSDAY
AFTERNOON. MODERATE HUMIDITY LEVEL WILL KEEP HEAT INDEX READINGS
NEAR...TO JUST ABOVE THE ACTUAL AIR TEMPERATURES...PEAKING FROM
105 TO 110 DEGREES DURING MID TO LATE AFTERNOON.

* IMPACTS...TAKE EXTRA PRECAUTIONS...IF YOU WORK OR SPEND TIME
OUTSIDE. WHEN POSSIBLE...RESCHEDULE STRENUOUS ACTIVITIES TO
EARLY MORNING OR EVENING. KNOW THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF HEAT
EXHAUSTION AND HEAT STROKE. WEAR LIGHT WEIGHT AND LOOSE FITTING
CLOTHING WHEN POSSIBLE AND DRINK PLENTY OF WATER. REMEMBER NOT
TO LEAVE ANY PERSON OR PET IN PARKED VEHICLES AS TEMPERATURES

TO REDUCE RISK DURING OUTDOOR WORK... THE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND
HEALTH ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDS SCHEDULING FREQUENT REST BREAKS
IN SHADED OR AIR CONDITIONED ENVIRONMENTS. ANYONE OVERCOME BY HEAT
SHOULD BE MOVED TO A COOL AND SHADED LOCATION. HEAT STROKE IS AN
EMERGENCY... CALL 9 1 1.

A HEAT ADVISORY MEANS THAT A PERIOD OF HOT TEMPERATURES IS
EXPECTED. THE COMBINATION OF HOT TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDITY
