Advisory

The Worth Police Department Will Enforce Violations of Illegal Fireworks

With the Forth of July just days away and with the extreme drought we are experiencing, the Worth Police Department would like to take this opportunity to remind the residents and visiting guests of our Village, that fireworks are illegal in the Village of Worth and State of Illinois.

There will be increased patrol and enforcement by the police department. Additional officers will be on duty the weekend prior to and on the Forth of July holiday.

Individuals found to be in possession of illegal fireworks will be ticketed and have their fireworks confiscated. Confiscated fireworks will be turned over to the Cook County Bomb Squad for destruction.

Vehicles where M-80 type and larger type devices are found will be subject to impoundment. The Cook County Bomb Squad will be contacted and will determine the method of removal and destruction.

Parents are reminded of the Anti-vandalism and Parental Responsibility Ordinance ( VO #10-8-2 ) - it shall be unlawful for the residing parent or legal guardian of a minor to fail to exercise proper parental responsibility over said minor.

We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday.
