Fruitport Township PD arrests suspect and recovers easily identifiable stolen property.
Fruitport Township Police Department has arrested a 21-year-old male suspect from Fruitport for larceny from a vehicle.
Fruitport Township Police Department responded to a larceny from a vehicle complaint in the 3600 block of S. Sheridan on 06/30/2012. The victim estimated the incident took place between 2:30 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. because the victim’s dog was barking around this time.
The victim reported tools and prescription medications were stolen from the victim’s vehicle. Through investigation, police developed a suspect and recovered the stolen property.
Stolen tools recovered by police were easily identified as belonging to the victim because they had been painted neon green and displayed the victim’s name.
Fruitport Police have frequently encouraged residents make their property easy to identify in the event it is stolen. Because the police were able to easily identify the stolen property, the property was recovered quickly and the suspect was arrested within hours of the incident.
The suspect, a 21-year-old male from Fruitport, was arrested and lodged at the Muskegon County Jail. His name is not being released at this time.
Police are continuing investigation into whether there were additional suspects involved.
