PRESS RELEASE: Byciclist hit by car near Bronson and Center Streets in Warsaw.

On Monday, July 2, 2012, at approximately 6:17 p.m., Central Dispatch was contacted in regard to a bicyclist being hit by a car near the area of Bronson and Center Streets in Warsaw.

Shortly thereafter, Warsaw Police Department officers responded to the area and located the bicyclist who was identified as 30-year-old Brandon Evans, 216 N. 3rd Street, Apt. 2, Vincennes, Indiana. The driver of the vehicle was 55-year-old, Rick Hatcher, 3711 E. Wilcox Road, Warsaw. A witness at the scene stated the light for Center Street traffic was in the process of changing when Hatcher’s vehicle collided with Evans’ bicycle. Additionally, the witness advised Evans was observed going north on Bronson Street when the light for Bronson traffic changed to green.

Due to the severity of his injuries, Brandon Evans was airlifted to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. The investigation continues by the Warsaw Police Department.
