We realize that you choose to live in this community for many reasons including the mild climate and the beautiful lush environment.

However, what many aren’t prepared for when they move to this area is that wildland fires are expected events in this region due to the natural vegetation, periodic droughts and strong hot sundowner winds.

To assist our residents, Montecito Fire and MERRAG will hold a workshop this Thursday to give you the tips and tools to successfully prepare for wildfire.

You will learn how to create a defensible home, how to prepare your family if a fire approaches, and you will receive checklists to help you plan for evacuation.
