Sheriff's investigators are seeking possible additional witnesses or victims of sexual battery after an assault in broad daylight on a busy downtown L.A. street.

At 11:00AM, Friday, deputies arrested a man at 1st and Hill Streets, Downtown L.A., after a woman alleged that as she got out of her husband's car, the suspect reached from behind her, took hold of her arm, and groped her chest (Sexual Battery).

Two Los Angeles County Sheriff's Transit Services Bureau deputies were walking nearby and her husband contacted them and pointed out the suspect near a bus stop. At the time he spoke to deputies, the husband thought the suspect had tried to rob his wife.

Deputies contacted Suspect Alexis Husmario Torres, who was uncooperative and fought with deputies. As a result, the deputies and the suspect received minor injuries and were treated at area hospitals.

Suspect Torres is a 31-year old Hispanic man, 6 feet tall, 190 pounds, brown hair, brown eyes, wearing a black T-shirt, blue jeans and black tennis shoes.

Torres was booked on several charges: Sexual Battery (243.4 CA Penal Code), Battery on a Peace Officer (243(c)(1) CA Penal Code), and Possessing Counterfeit Identification (472 CA Penal Code). He is being held in a housing unit for persons with possible mental illness in the Los Angeles County jail. His bail is set at $20,000.00.
