...HEAT ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT THURSDAY...

THE HEAT ADVISORY IS NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT THURSDAY.

* TEMPERATURE...HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL CLIMB INTO THE UPPER 90S TO
AROUND 100 DEGREES THIS AFTERNOON AND THURSDAY AFTERNOON. THESE
VERY HOT TEMPERATURES...COMBINED WITH MODERATELY HIGH RELATIVE
HUMIDITY VALUES...WILL CREATE HEAT INDEX READINGS PEAKING FROM
105 TO 110 DEGREES.

* IMPACTS...THE EFFECTS OF HEAT ARE CUMULATIVE...AND WORSEN WITH
INCREASED TIME OUTSIDE. PROLONGED EXPOSURE TO THE HEAT MAY
QUICKLY RESULT IN HEAT EXHAUSTION OR HEAT STROKE...ESPECIALLY
IF YOUR BODY IS WORKING HARD.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A HEAT ADVISORY MEANS THAT A COMBINATION OF HOT TEMPERATURES AND
HIGH HUMIDITY WILL CREATE A SITUATION IN WHICH HEAT ILLNESSES ARE
POSSIBLE. IF WORKING OUTDOORS...AVOID THE MIDDAY AND AFTERNOON
SUN...SCHEDULE FREQUENT REST BREAKS IN SHADED OR AIR CONDITIONED
ROOMS...DRINK PLENTY OF WATER...AND WEAR LIGHT WEIGHT CLOTHING.
CHECK UP ON RELATIVES...NEIGHBORS...AND FRIENDS...ESPECIALLY
CHILDREN AND THE ELDERLY. ANYONE OVERCOME BY HEAT SHOULD BE MOVED
