The City of Lubbock is experiencing power surges. Some traffic lights are down, water is unaffected.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
This afternoon, the City of Lubbock experienced a power surge. This appears to be residual issues related to this past Saturday's outage. Initial reports are the surge has caused some power outages throughout the city. It is not believed to be city-wide but is affecting some traffic lights at intersections. Citizens are encouraged that, if you are approaching traffic intersections, use caution and if it is flashing red treat it as a "4-way" stop.
In addition, the City of Lubbock is encouraging all citizens to conserve power for the remainder of the day. It is believed this will help stabilize the power surge we experienced.
Power is slowing stabilizing city-wide, and updates will be forthcoming. As of this release, water pressure is OK for regular use.
Instructions:
All citizens should treat flashing red intersections as "4-way stop" intersections, and should conserve power as much as possible to allow the system to stabilize.
