* HEAT INDICES...HEAT INDICES THIS AFTERNOON ARE PEAKING BETWEEN 105 AND 110 DEGREES ACROSS THE REGION. ON THURSDAY...HEAT INDICES WILL LIKLEY REACH ABOUT 105 DEGREES ACROSS THE AREA. MINIMUM NIGHTTIME TEMPERATURES WILL ONLY FALL INTO THE MID TO UPPER 70S.

* IMPACTS...EXTENDED PERIODS OF HOT WEATHER CAN HAVE A
CUMULATIVE EFFECT ON THE BODY. DEHYDRATION CAN OCCUR SLOWLY OVER THE COURSE OF DAYS. HEAT RELATED ILLNESSES SUCH AS HEAT EXHAUSTION AND HEAT STROKE BECOME MUCH MORE LIKELY WHEN THE HEAT INDEX EXCEEDS 105.
