LPD is now offering training for citizens regarding response to an active shooter.

With the tragedy that took place in Aurora, Colorado still fresh on the nation’s mind, the Lubbock Police Department acknowledges that the tactics of “Lone Gunmen” or “Active Shooters” are ever evolving. So too, have the strategies and training of the Lubbock Police Department progressed to combat the potential devastation an event like this might have on our city.
Lubbock Police officers regularly train specifically in preparation for an Active Shooter incident. In a proactive effort to further maintain the safety of our community, the Lubbock Police Department is pleased to announce the expansion of the Department’s Active Shooter Program by providing training for a Citizen’s Response to an Active Shooter.
This training is geared toward providing businesses and citizen groups a basic understanding in how to survive an Active Shooter incident. The program is tailored specifically to the needs of the individual venue and can accommodate large businesses, schools, churches, or any area used for social gathering. The training is provided free of charge and instructed by select qualified officers of the Lubbock Police Department.
For more information about the Citizen’s Response to an Active Shooter training program, or if you are interested in scheduling training for your venue, please contact the Lubbock Police Department Neighborhood Services Unit at 806-775-2971.
