PRESS RELEASE: Weekend Domestic Violence Arrests
July 30, 2012
Two (2) domestic violence incidents in Warsaw over the weekend land two (2) men in jail. The first incident occurred Friday evening, July 27, 2012 around 5:45 p.m. when Siamuel A. Stemen of Plymouth stalked and deliberately rammed his wife’s vehicle on E. Market Street in Warsaw while a protective order was in place. The incident began when Kathryn M. Stemen, 27 years of age, got off work around 5:00 p.m. and received a telephone call from her estranged husband, Siamuel A. Stemen, 27 years of age, of 722 E. LaPorte St., Plymouth, IN, who stated that he had just watched her leave work and drive downtown. While downtown, Mr. Stemen drove by Kathryn and yelled at her almost striking her white Chevrolet Equinox. She then drove down Market Street and near Bronson Street she observed Mr. Stemen’s vehicle, a grey Toyota Tacoma, drive up next to her and swerve into the driver’s side of her car. This occurred two (2) more times eventually forcing her off the road and into a yard at which time, Mr. Stemen drove off. While Mrs. Stemen was speaking with police, Siamuel called her cell phone, but Warsaw Police answered the call and told Mr. Stemen to come to the Warsaw Police Department but he responded saying he called the wrong number. Police tracked the cell phone and found it moving through Elkhart County. An attempt to locate the grey Toyota Tacoma and Mr. Stemen was sent out. Mr. Stemen was later located by the Edwardsburg, Michigan Police Department after having attempting to cut his wrists. Edwardsburg Police advised that Mr. Stemen was intoxicated and was transported to a hospital in Dowagiac, MI. Edwardsburg Police also located the Toyota Tacoma that showed damage consistent with the rammings that occurred in Warsaw. After being treated, Mr. Stemen was transported to the Cass County MI jail and held on a temporary felony warrant. Warsaw Police is working with the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office and have filed the following felony charges; domestic battery, criminal recklessness with a motor vehicle, criminal stalking, invasion of privacy, criminal mischief, and resisting law enforcement.
The second incident occurred on Sunday morning, July 29, 2012 at approximately 2:09 a.m. when Central Dispatch received a 911 call from 502 S. Union Street in Warsaw. Upon arrival, officers found a female crying in apartment #4 holding an infant with several other small children present. As officers investigated, a male, identified as Rick L. Kensinger, 31 years of age, of 502 S. Union Street, Warsaw was found hiding in a closet. Rick Kensinger was found to have an active warrant out of Kosciusko County for felony domestic battery. Officers also located marijuana and a glass smoking pipe on Rick Kensinger. The investigation found that Jaimie N. Albert, 22 years of age of the same address , was battered and strangled twice by Rick after he had been drinking and they argued. Rick Kensinger took and damaged Jaimie’s cell phone and threatened her if she called the police. Warsaw Police observed injuries to Jaimie’s face and neck. Rick L. Kensinger was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on felony charges of domestic battery and strangulation. He was also charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana, and interfering with the reporting of a crime. He was also served the warrants for his arrest.
