HIGHWAY 192 CLOSED DUE TO LARGE SINKHOLE; ESTIMATED TIME OF OPENING IS MID-AUGUST
The following information was provided in a press release by Cal Trans:
A large, 3-foot diameter sinkhole that shut down Highway 192 at Westmont Road on July 25 is scheduled to open mid-August, Caltrans officials have announced.
A traffic detour is currently available along Sycamore Canyon Road, Alameda Padre Serra and Barker Pass Road. Electronic message signs have posted to advise motorists and the CHP is assisting with traffic control in the area.
An emergency contract is underway to replace a failed drainage culvert and rebuild this section of roadway. John Madonna Construction of San Luis Obispo is the prime contractor.
