Hollenbeck Division has consistently experienced GTA (Grand Theft Auto) & BTFV (Burglary Theft from Vehicle) incidents. The number of incidents has fluctuated, but it still remains an important issue here in the Division. All communities have been affected, but some more than others.
I, along with Hollenbeck Officers and Detectives, have actively worked on addressing the issue, in order to bring the amount of incidents down. I appreciate all your work and ask for your continued cooperation. Please help spread the following information and encourage friends and family to do the same:
***Older model (1985 - 1998) Hondas and Toyotas are the most common vehicles targeted. Although other makes are targeted, as well.
Suggestions:
***Please do not leave items (purses, bags, electronics, etc.) in plain view in youlr vehicle;
***Lock your vehicle at all times; and
***Utilize aftermarket accessories, such as ignition "kill" switches (devices), steering wheel locking devices, etc.
