Although we are not under any watches or warnings at this time, severe weather is expected later this evening and overnight--strong winds and large hail is possible--Stay Sky Aware.
Thunderstorms are expected to develop this across the eastern Dakotas this afternoon, move into western Minnesota later this evening, and continue eastward into western Wisconsin overnight. Severe hail and damaging wind will be the main threats. Details are listed below.
• Overview
o Large hail and damaging wind are the primary threats later this evening and overnight as a line of storms is expected to develop out west and move through the region.
• Details
o A powerful upper level system will drive a cold front through the Upper Midwest late this evening and overnight. Storms are expected to develop along the front this evening across the eastern Dakotas / western Minnesota, and then track eastward overnight. A few storms are expected to be strong to severe. Although a tornado can't be ruled out, the primary threats will be large hail, and damaging winds. These storms will likely persist through the overnight hours as they move eastward into western Wisconsin. On Saturday, storms may redevelop across far eastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin.
