On Thursday night at approximately 10:30 PM, a resident of the apartment complex at 409 Easton Road shot his mother and her boyfriend outside their apartment. An arrest was made shortly after the arrival of the police so the danger to public safety was short lived which is why a Nixle alert was not published.

Since Thursday, several residents have told our officers that when they heard the news helicopters they were worried that one of their officers might have been hurt. An officer came to me and asked that a message be sent out to the public letting them know that they were humbled by the inquiries and wanted everyone to know that no officers were injured.

On the night of the double shooting, the armed subject did not immediately surrender and officers were forced to take action in order to successfully and safely take him into custody. None of those officers were injured nor was the suspect.
