With School starting back this week, safety should be our first priority.

The Gainesville Police Department would like to remind all motorists in
the Gainesville area to use alternate routes if possible on Friday when
school starts back. According to Police Captain Carol Martin, the
major traffic back up occurs around the elementary schools, especially
Enota and Centennial. “We would like to ask for everyone’s
cooperation and patience on the roadway. If you aren’t dropping your
children off at school please consider other routes. We want the first
day of school to be as safe as possible, Captain Martin said.”

The Gainesville Police Department works closely with the school
system throughout the year providing school resources officers for
GainesvilleHigh School, Gainesville Middle School, and Woods Mill
Academy. The three officers serving these schools also work with the
five elementary schools.
